PRESS RELEASE
MANFRED DUBOV (1986) opens his personal exhibition „Fracturae“ in Hobusepea and Draakon galleries at 6pm on September 11, 2013.
Artist-talk will be held in Draakoni gallery at 4 pm on September 17 and 21.

Manfred Dubov has graduated from the department of painting at the Estonian Academy of Arts; the artist has participated in exhibitions since 2011, he has held exhibitions in Tartu Art House (with Marta Stratskas), in Hobusepea gallery and Haapsalu City Gallery (with August Sai).
At the exhibition held in Hobusepea gallery in 2011, Dubov introduced his work as „pulsating poetry that focuses on expressing and contemplating both the bright and dark sides of life“. At the present exhibition, the poeticalness characteristic of Dubov's paintings is still present; also, the artist's position has remained intact. According to Dubov, all his paintings are the sum of both inner and outer worlds, the colour scale being corporal and natural. The expressiveness of his paintings, however, is deceptive – the emotional and spontaneous surface conceals the carefully worked out mind game, comparable to chess. It is an analytical construction with repetitive motifs where every brushstroke and image have been thoroughly placed into the system. Dubov says that he is intrigued the most by the fact how colors and the art of painting can express the entire life experience of an artist. Can the fractures and injuries, that inevitably change the structures of human lives, be expressed through the means of painting? For Dubov, paintings are the episodes of life, the documentation and self-portrait of one's life experience. The way Dubov matches colours together can be compared to the techniques one uses for composing music – according to the artist, he creates paintings where the colours have psychical qualities similarly to sounds. While classifying his work into segments and arrangements, Dubov aims at offering the viewer more freedom of interpretation. His artwork, that can also be viewed as an imitation of erosion, relates to nature through the means of the art of painting.
Exhibition will be open until September 28, 2013.
Exhibition is supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
Exhibitions in Hobusepea and Draakon galleries are supported by Estonian Ministry of Culture.
