PRESS RELEASE

CARMEN LANSBERG (1981) will open her personal exhibition An Unknown Entity of Desire in Hobusepea gallery at 6pm on July 4th, 2012.

Carmen Lansberg has graduated from the department of cultural theory at the Estonian Institute of Humanities and as an exchange student studied at the Rome University of Fine Arts. In 2010, Lansberg obtained BA degree in painting at the department of fine arts of the Estonian Academy of Arts.

According to the artist, her current drawings and paintings function as a psychogeographical adventure in a molecular landscape, or as a journey into the labyrinths of cerebral hemispheres. Such labyrinths with the impasses of emotions and desires are the ones where amorphous, swollen, grotesque, Mimoid-like baroque freaks or elephantiac images appear from hyperactive disarrangement. Then everything will mutate and disappear into the chaos as an ephemeral hallucination, in order to transform into new organic and anorganic images., thus telling the story how desire becomes a subject, an entity, a being and how the subject desires to become a Man; however, the result will be always left unknown.

Exhibition will be open until July 16, 2012.

Supported by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.

Exhibitions in Hobusepea gallery are supported by Estonian Ministry of Culture.
