PRESS RELEASE KAILI-ANGELA KONNO's (1970) personal exhibition Closed areas will be opened in Hobusepea gallery at 6pm on July 20, 2016. According to the artist, her present exhibition includes paintings, photos and site-specific installation that all together form a conceptual whole. Kaili-Angela Konno: „The starting point was combined by various sources. At some point it happened that people, both the close ones and not that close ones, started to pass away so that it was possible to see and hear them only in my thoughts, dreams or photographs. New territories appeared – the ones that were right here, closer than possible yet inaccessible. The fact that numerous lost worlds were created during a short period of time made me feel that everything is right here all the time. Shared lives and deaths overlapped, reflected each other, changed color, yet remained detached to the end. A separate space was formed behind the screen with the shape of a butterfly wing. Inaccessibility sharpened perception and made existence trusting. And simple. However, fear was still there.“ Kaili-Angela Konno has graduated from the department of painting at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1999 and is currently obtaining a MA degree in the department of art education. The artist has participated in exhibitions since 1997; this is her twelfth personal exhibition. Kaili-Angela Konno is working as a studio artist for Estonian Television at the Estonian Public Broadcasting and has been awarded twice with the Best Artist Prize of the organization. In 2015, Konno's work was recognized at Tallinn 5th Drawing Triennial „Black and white“. Exhibition will be open until August 8, 2016.
