Lilith Absentias<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Paul Rodgers on juba veerand sajandit elanud ja t\u00f6\u00f6tanud Eestis. Ta on \u00f5petanud kunstiakadeemias ja \u00f5petab siiani Kohila keskkoolis. Ta on osalenud aktiivselt siinses kunstielus nii kunstniku kui ka kuraatorina: olnud rahvusvaheliste tegevus- ja videokunsti s\u00fcndmuste nagu &#8220;KanaNahk&#8221; ja Viinistu tegevuskunstifestivali \u00fcks eestvedajaid, pidevalt on tal olnud isikun\u00e4itusi, ta on kunstir\u00fchmituse Eesti Energiad \u00fcks asutajaid. Nii nagu ta pole kunagi saanud m\u00f6\u00f6da suurest narratiivist, eksistentsiaalsetest k\u00fcsimustest, nii ka p\u00e4evakajalistest s\u00fcndmustest. Kuid p\u00e4evakajaline ei ole tema kunsti j\u00f5udnud mitte ainult suure narratiivi, aegadele vastu pannud v\u00e4\u00e4rtuss\u00fcsteemide, vaid ka kunstniku enda elukogemuse kaudu. Mida aeg edasi, seda enam on Paul Rodgersi teoste ajend olnud kultuurij\u00e4lg, m\u00f5ni varasem kunstiteos v\u00f5i -\u017eanr v\u00f5i viis, kuidas kunstnikud on oma aega ja \u00fchiskonda visuaalselt kirjeldanud, millist visuaalset m\u00e4rki on nad sellest tahtnud tulevikule j\u00e4tta, aga kuidas nad sellega on ka oma aja inimese ja tema arusaamadega manipuleerinud v\u00f5i kuidas ka nendega on manipuleeritud.<\/p>\n<p>Kui Paul Rodgersi eelmise, kaks aastat tagasi Hobusepea galeriis toimunud isikun\u00e4ituse t\u00f5uge oli nat\u00fc\u00fcrmort, elus sisalduv surma meeldetuletus v\u00f5i tema oma s\u00f5nade j\u00e4rgi surmas sisalduv elu element, siis n\u00fc\u00fcd on tema \u00fcks l\u00e4htepunkt XIX sajandi romantilise ajastu kunstniku oriendi, ise\u00e4ranis idamaise naise kuvand (Jean-Joseph Benjamin-Constanti maal &#8220;\u00d5htu terrassil (Maroko)&#8221;, 1879), Euroopa vaatepunkt, mille vastu L\u00e4his-Ida maades on innukalt v\u00f5ideldud, aga mida sama edukalt kasutatakse siiani, et luua endale sobiv kuvand ja sellega ka praegu manipuleerida. Teine on praeguse idamaise naise enesekuvand, naeratavad noored kurdi naisv\u00f5itlejad, snaiperid, kes on valmis oma rahva vabaduse eest elu andma. Kolmas on v\u00e4ikese vapra ja oma isale lojaalse t\u00fcdruku kuvand 1950ndate ameerika filmist, puhtuse ja s\u00fc\u00fctuse s\u00fcmbol. Kui 1950ndate traagilised filmid, ka emotsionaalsed thriller?id, l\u00f5ppesid tavaliselt \u00f5nnelikult, siis kurdi snaiperite puhul on pigem vastupidi.<br \/>\nN\u00e4ituse pealkiri &#8220;Lilith Absentias&#8221; osutab Lilithile, m\u00e4ssumeelsele iseseisvale naisele, olgu siis Vana testamendi Aadama esimese naise v\u00f5i veelgi varasemate mesopotaamia m\u00fc\u00fctide m\u00f5ttes, aga ka tema puudumisele, kohalolematusele v\u00f5i tema kohalolemises ka siis, kui teda p\u00e4riselt kohal ei ole. Kuid nagu kunstnik ise oma saates\u00f5nades \u00fctleb, on pealkiri siiski ainult vihje, kerge j\u00e4lg, mida m\u00f6\u00f6da endale oma jutustus kokku panna.<br \/>\nPaul Rodgersi ruumiinstallatsioonid kulgevad risoomsete jutustustena, millel on just selline algus, edasiarendus ja ka l\u00f5pp, kuigi l\u00f5pp ja algus kasvavad sageli kokku, nagu vaataja seda ise sealt v\u00e4lja loeb. Ehk milline on siis vaataja oma elu- ja kultuurikogemus.<\/p>\n<p>Reet Varblane<br \/>\nVabaduse galerii n\u00e4itusi toetavad Eesti Kultuurkapital ja Eesti Kultuuriministeerium.<br \/>\nT\u00e4name ArtProofi.<\/p>\n<p>Olen sageli m\u00e4rganud, et jutustustel ja luulel on sageli algus, kuid need arenevad omasoodu ja hakkavad elama oma elu, mis, kui tegemist on heade lugudega, viivad meid tundmatule territooriumile ja j\u00e4reldustele. \u00dcsna tihti panevad need j\u00e4reldused meid naasma algusessse, et seda siis muuta. See k\u00e4ib s\u00f5nade, keele ja kirjutamise p\u00f5neva olemuse juurde. Ka mina kirjutan, naudin seda ja v\u00f5itlen sellega. Kuigi visuaalse kunsti keel on teistsugune ja katse suruda visuaalse kunsti loomust s\u00f5nadesse tundub tihti viljatu ja eksitavgi, seda ise\u00e4ranis kunstnikule.<br \/>\nMu t\u00f6\u00f6dele on omane teatud narratiivsus, kuid neil on palju alguspunkte, seda nii kontseptuaalses kui ka ajalises m\u00f5ttes, et saaksin tuua v\u00e4lja kummalisi kaasav\u00f5nkumisi praeguse ajahetkega. Teoste elemente saab (s\u00f5nadega) kirjeldada, neist saab r\u00e4\u00e4kida individuaalses m\u00f5ttes ja vahest tuua esile isegi nende sotsiaalseid v\u00f5i poliitilise kaasav\u00f5nkumisi, kuid nende tegelik v\u00e4\u00e4rtus seisneb siiski se?les, kuidas need \u00fcksteisega suhestuvad ning s\u00f5nalisest selgitusest pole teoste tegelikul m\u00f5istmisel just palju abi. Isegi n\u00e4ituse pealkiri on ainult vihje, prel\u00fc\u00fcd.
